What it does
LBI uses high-definition cameras with dedicated illumination to inspect labelled containers while they are still in the labelling area. The station checks whether the active product format is being applied correctly and catches label defects before cases or pallets are built around bad product.
Around the container
The system can be built with multiple camera views, up to six in total, so more than one label or side of the container can be checked at the same time. That makes it the traceability-family option for applications that need broad label coverage instead of a single code-reading view.
What it checks
- Label presence on the selected production format.
- Correct label position, orientation and overall integrity.
- Rotated labels, tears, edge folds and other visible label defects.
- Barcode, lot-code and 2D Data Matrix presence and inspection.
- Repeated writing and stains on the label.
Inspection flow
- The operator selects the container format or stored recipe on the touchscreen.
- The camera and lighting set inspect the labelled container as it passes the labeller.
- The system verifies label quality plus the required barcode, lot code or Data Matrix checks.
- Production statistics and format settings are stored by recipe.
- Rejected containers can be diverted automatically when the station is connected to the reject mechanism.
Options
- Reject system Progressive reject diverter for removing defective containers from the line.
- Remote management Networked remote access for online support.
- Multi-camera Add up to five extra cameras to inspect the whole container or additional labels at the same time.
LBI vs LIO
LIO is the focused lot-code and code-reading station around the marking area. LBI is used when the labelling machine also needs product-format, label-position and label-condition inspection, with multiple camera views available for broader coverage around the container.
